FOURTEEN YEARS OF GIVING.  OVER $270,000 GRANTED

Adventure Learning - a Circle grantee - introduces young people to incredible places and to resources within themselves

 2020:: $21,880 (Focus: Championing Women and Girls)
*Welcome Table: $1,500 to fund one monthly meal prepared by a female chef with participation from local women's groups.
*Backyard Harvest: $2,000 to recruit more women to participate in gleaning and gardening activities on the Palouse.
*Food Not Bombs of the Palouse: $5,000 increase capacity to address food insecurity during the pandemic.
*Latah County Historical Society: $2,000 for women's suffrage event series.
*Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre: $2,500 for a "Directed by Women" film series.
*Moscow's Distinguished Young Women: $500 to match fundraising by participants.
*Moscow Affordable Housing Trust: $1,000 to expand funding for local affordable housing projects.
*Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute: $1,500 to continue STEM day-camp programming for girls.
*Scouts BSA Troop #333: $1,500 to fund gear, camp fees, and leadership training.
*University of Idaho Women's Center: $3,000 to provide menstrual hygiene and sexual health products to students at no cost.
*Idaho Firewise: $1,380 to establish a experiential learning program for middle school-aged girls.


2019:: $20,000 (Focus: Building Circles of Well-Being)
*Backyard Harvest :: $1,400 to expand
*Disability Action Center :: $2,500 to purchase additional temporary ramp structures to assist those with mobility challenges
*Friends of Phillips Farm :: $3,000 to bring on an activities and event coordinator
*Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre :: $2,000 for accessibility and lighting improvements in the theatre
*Latah Recovery Center :: $1,200 to stock healthy, shelf stable food for those in need at the center
*Palouse Land Trust :: $2,000 for an accessible entrance platform and ramp at Idler's Rest Nature Preserve
*Palouse Pathways :: $1,000 to support training of student mentors
*Palouse Prairie Charter School :: $1,000 towards the 2020 build of a canoe for the River Warriors Society
*PCEI :: $1,400 to assist with tuition, supply and staffing needs for the summer STREAM camp for young ladies
*Pritchard Art Gallery :: $1,000 to support the installation and showing of the Zimoun art exhibit
*Scouts BSA Troop #333 :: $1,000 to support gear needs of Moscow's first all-female scout troop
*St. Vincent De Paul :: $2,500 for emergency housing and rent support for those in need in the community


2018:: $22,000 (Focus: Inclusivity: Expanding our Circles)
*artAbility :: $2,000 to host professionally-led arts workshops for adults with disabilities
*Families Together :: $1,700 to host summer camp for kids with disabilities and their peers
*Friendly Neighbors :: $350 for postage and materials for an outreach campaign to connect with seniors in need
*KRFP Radio Free Moscow :: $2,000 to replace aging equipment
*Moscow Central Lions Club :: $429 to replace an accessible swing in Lions Park 
*Palouse Bicycle Collective :: $1,950 to build a secure storage and workspace shed
*Backyard Harvest ::  $3,700 to support the Fresh Bucks program and the Moscow Farmers Market and for production of outreach materials to connect with more families in need in our community
*Humane Society of the Palouse :: $2,550 to support the SNAP (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) that empowers low-income residents to be responsible pet owners
*UI Library & College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences:: $2,600 toward the digital archive of the Statewide LGBTQ Oral History Project
*Moscow Charter School Marimba Club:: $1,450 to host community workshops and concerts to share the aarts and culture of Zimbabwe
*Friends of Philips Farm:: $3,000 to provide scholarships to summer science camp


2017 :: $27,043 (Focus: Capacity Building)
​*Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse :: $1,580  to provide a dedicated laptop for the market, improve the website, and create a more robust and usable database.
*
Heart of the Arts (Moscow Nonprofit Roundtable)  :: $5,000 to bring professional fundraisier and nonprofit developer Susan Howlett to Moscow for board and NPO staff development training.
*
Kenworthy Performing Arts Theatre :: $5,563 for purchase and installation of technology  for closed captioning and audio devices for disabled guests.  
*
Latah County Historical Society :: $2,500 for a paid internship position for a college student interested in museum science.
*
Palouse Land Trust :: $6,400 to support a joint management position to care for the Dave Skinner Ecological Preserve.
*
St. Vincent DePaul :: $5,000 for heating assistance to low-income residents of Latah County.
*Weekend Food for Kids :: $1,000 to provide fresh food and fruit to children in need.



2016 :: $24,031 (Focus: social justice)
* CHAS Clinic :: $4,931 to support their prescription drug voucher program for one year 
* ​Alliance House :: $2,330 to replace the aging electrical service group home that provides housing for up to 6 individuals living with mental illness 
* Disability Action Center :: $3,000 to purchase 1-2 modular ramps available for loan
* Russell Elementary School STEAM Room :: $1,300 to purchase 2 ipads to support exploration and experimentation in STEAM-related fields. 
* Palouse PAWS :: $2,470 to build capacity for additional human/animal comfort visits 
* Palouse Pathways :: $1,000 to create college inspiration programs at each of the seven libraries in Latah County 
* Backyard Harvest :: $4,000 to hire an Outreach and Partnerships Coordinator to increase donation and distribution of fresh produce to low income community members. 
* Latah Trail Foundation :: $1,500 to make vault toilets along the Latah Trail ADA accessible 
* PFLAG Moscow :: $2,000 to create "Rainbow Pages," a directory of local businesses that are safe and welcoming spaces 
* ​Festival Dance :: $1,500 to provide a cultural Youthreach educational program to 600+ Latah County students for free​

2015 :: $18,400 
(Focus: collaborative efforts between multiple nonprofits)

  • ​​Moscow High School Special Ed: To purchase food supplies for the Special Ed cooking program.
  • Family Promise + Habitat for Humanity: To offer financial literacy courses for low-income families
  • PCEI + Good Sam + Adventure Club: To offer 20 four-hour programs engaging youth with elders in a natural outdoor setting.
  • Palouse Land Trust: To ensure the long‐term stewardship of the largest and best remaining patches of Palouse Prairie in the region.
  • Families Together + Idaho Self-Advocate Leadership Network: The 2016 Disability Film Festival
  • Latah County Library: To purchase take-home Maker Kits and offer Make It @ Your Library programs


2014 :: $21,000 (Focus: Food insecurity)

  • Family Promise: Salary for a case manager. Family Promise provides shelter, meals, and counseling/training for homeless families with children.
  • Friendly Neighbors: To provide home delivered meals to seniors.
  • Moscow High School + Moscow Middle School: Support for the Backpack weekend meals program that sends food home with students who are at risk of not having access to adequate food over the weekend.
  • Backyard Harvest: “Shop the Market” program which allows the use of SNAP at area Farmers Markets.
  • Palouse Cares: Funding to purchase high-protein food items and crock-pots for food pantries and educational/outreach items. 

2013 :: $18,240

  • Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse: To buy and implement evidence-based curriculum focused on healthy teen dating and relationships.
  • Palouse Habitat for Humanity: To purchase a locking trailer to store and transport tools needed for a new program, repairing homes of low-income community members.
  • Latah Trail Foundation: To support continued maintenance and promotion of the Latah Trail, including a new website with information to help community members and visitors enjoy the trail.
  • Moscow High School Special Education: To rent the 1912 Center's kitchen twice a week to teach kitchen, cooking, and independent living skills to students with special needs.
  • My Own Home: To expand membership and volunteer base in the organization, which provides services to help older community members remain safely in their own homes as they age.
  • Rendezvous for Kids: To support scholarships, art supplies, and workshops for children as part of Moscow's summer music festival, Rendezvous in the Park.
  • Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH):  To reduce fees and enable Latah County children and adults with disabilities to benefit from therapeutic horseback riding.
  • Palouse Land Trust: To help bring the Executive Director from 50% to 75% of full-time to provide more time to meet with landowners and shepherd complex land transactions to completion
  • Palouse Prairie School of Expeditionary Learning: To support its farm-to-table lunch program and develop it into a model to be shared with other schools.
  • Success by 6: To assist the free pre-school program, which provides educational, emotional and developmental support needed for school readiness.


2012 :: $25,000 (5th anniversary = Five $5,000 grants) 

     •    Backyard Harvest: To support general operations of the organization (which provides access to fresh, healthy produce to lower income community members) during a transition year. 
     •    Family Promise: To support the development of a chapter in our region coordinate local churches and services to provide transitional housing and services to homeless families.  Our grant supports the development of a chapter in our region. 
    •    My Own Home: To provide services to help our community’s older residents to stay in their homes independently.  Our grant supports their first year of operations.
    •    Palouse Land Trust – preserves open space by working with landowners on conservation easements.  Grant will help them grow their capacity for fundraising.
    •    Willow Center : To support the expansion bereavement support for children who have lost a loved one.  We are supporting their expansion to Latah County.


2011 :: $22,792

     •    Juliaetta Elementary School:  To support a summer reading program
     •    Kenworthy Performing Arts Center: For kids' movie series
     •    Troy Elementary School:  Science in Your Own Backyard program
     •    St. Vincent de Paul: To aid elderly individuals in need
     •    Project Access: To train professionals in mental health first aid
     •    Gritman Adult Day Health:  Helping Hands fund
     •    Families Together: Educational programming for families with disabled children
     •    Pritchard Art Gallery: To renovate educational space in art gallery

2010 ::  $22,038

  • St. Vincent de Paul:  Emergency unemployment assistance
  • Backyard Harvest: Harvest Share Market stand
  • The Alliance House: Maintenance & repair of group home for mentally ill
  • Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse: Peer support groups for survivors
  • Moscow School District, Moscow Mentor/Bear Buddies Program:  operational costs
  • Adventure Learning Camps: Scholarship Fund
  • Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship: Operating costs
  • Palouse Land Trust: Hire P-T marketing & promotions staff member
  • Palouse Prairie School: School-community greenhouse
  • Success by 6 of the Palouse: Child passenger safety program

  • St. Vincent de Paul (Moscow Conference):  For emergency energy bill coverage
  • Rendezvous in Moscow:  To subsidize Rendezvous for Kids component
  • UI Children’s Reading Program:  Money for 20 kids, a years’ worth of tutorial services
  • UI Sustainable Campus Move-Out Program:  “Reuse Made Easy” to salvage waste from spring waste at UI, store and sell
  • Troy Elementary School: Environmental science camp for 6th graders for 4 days
  • Palouse Youth Hockey Association: Goalie gear for kids that is shared and scholarships
  • West Park Elementary: To repair unsafe playground equipment
